The Starcraft 2 mastery guide is one of the newer guides on the market, hence why it has taken me a while to write my review of it.
The first thing that caught my attention when I logged into this guide was a tab that said SC2 Videos. I clicked on it immediately and was presented with pages upon pages of Starcraft 2 videos.
Wow now this is really impressive, each strategy he has is presented in video format! Oh man! This is awesome, it is so much easier to learn new strategies by watching rather than reading!
Wow it is amazing, the whole guide is a video guide! Each and every strategy is a video example! This is superior to any other way of learning I’ve previously encountered! Do you know how much more difficult it is to read about these strategies? This is a fabulous resource!
He has a unit guide for all three races, and they are extremely detailed unit guides. What these unit guides do for you, is things such as listing all about the unit and its strengths and weaknesses, as well as the units best uses.
Another feature I liked was that if you click on a matchup, any like Zerg verses Protoss, he has games. These games are professional level games, and they are commentated.
So be sure to understand that you are receiving both commentated Starcraft 2 replays for each matchup, as well as for all these specific strategies. I saw a Zergling rush strategy, a Terran nuke strategy, a Protoss Void Ray rush strategy and a whole bunch of others as well.
The most important thing to know when your purchase this guide, well their are really two things. Firstly that you are not getting a campaign walkthrough, and secondly that you are getting the highest quality multiplayer Starcraft 2 strategy guide on the web. It is extremely organized, it would take you forever to compile these commentated replays yourself, so their is a lot of value here. But don’t expect a campaign walkthrough, if you want that try Shokz or Star2Pros.
Now I haven’t even mentioned yet the actual strategy guide e-book, partially because I just found it. Right when you log in their is a big message saying, “Click here to download the Starcraft 2 Mastery Guide”, a message I skipped right over. So I went back and downloaded it, and low and behold I found an over 100 page e-book loaded with pictures too.
Some of the images even have text overlay to emphasize points, this is a really high quality Starcraft 2 strategy guide. He goes over resource management, general and race specific strategies too. Then the rest of the e-book is detailed strategies for each of the races and unit guides, let us use one strategy for a case study.
So to give you a feel for his strategy guide, here is information on the Void Ray rush he presents to us. He discusses which game types and which leagues this strategy is suited for, then tells you why (which is important). He explains the most important goal of each strategy and important tips to remember while performing it. The strategy is then walked through step by step, starting with building Probes and your first Pylon.
As you can see this strategy guide is very detailed, easily comparable to Shokz and Joanas in terms of quality.

I hated it back when I would lose a game I never had a chance in. Sometimes these Starcraft 2 games would take upwards of thirty minutes before I found out I never even had a chance.
What I love most about Starcraft 2 is the amount of possibilities in the game, but it is also a hate relationship because you need a ton of knowledge before you master the game.
I didn’t have the time (hundreds of hours) to learn every detail of the Starcraft 2 game. That is why I am glad I found Shokz Starcraft 2 strategy guide.
You and me, we don’t have hundreds and hundreds of hours to waste trying to figure every possibility out. Well fortunately I found a guide that has!
This strategy guide was made by an author I very much respect. He made many of the popular strategy guides for some of the other popular video games such as Aion and World of Warcraft. His guides were always top quality so I jumped on my chance to own one right away.
I noticed that the concepts this guide taught me were having an immediate affect on my gameplay. My armies were bigger, more ferocious, and my economy was better. Every fight with my opponent left me feeling confident and victorious. The frustration had finally ended!
I made a few small changes to my gameplay and I was suddenly a significantly tougher opponent. I wouldn’t have had the time to figure all these strategies out if it wasn’t for the Shokz Starcraft 2 strategy guide doing the research for me.

As far as units that can’t attack air go, I didn’t add air units as their counter. So for example I didn’t add Banshees as a counter to Zerglings, even though they would be, it just seemed to obvious. I put Air Units instead.

The Starcraft 2 Pwnage guide is a very professionally made guide. The downloadable portion of this guide is actually an executable.
The executable opens the “downloaded” portion of this guide, which is a 30 or 40 I think some page e-book. Each page has a picture example of the strategy/technique the page is about, which I like.
What is nice about this downloadable e-book being an executable is that when you close and re-open the guide, it saves your page. Little things like this just make me happy.
I liked how it gives you one specific build order for each race to get you started. It is a nice all around build order you can grab right away, and use every game you play. The build will give you an advantage on your opponents game after game.
Lets talk about the downloadable e-book first. This e-book covers all the basic strategies you’ll find for each race (i.e. Void Ray Rush, Dark Templar Rush, MMM strategy, Roach Push). What I noted about this e-book was that it also contained some off the wall strategies, which I am really liking lately.
I don’t know if I should tell you this (since it is from the guide), but the Collasus Drop strategy is absolutely awesome. I’m going to be using it in 2s games with my buddy later on.
I also like how the Starcraft 2 Pwnage guide is a little more outside of the box than the others, I learned some cool strategies for each race that I had never thought of before! Their was a really cool one for Protoss with the Mothership, and another one I noted was how Zerg can mine Gold through a Nydus Canal! This is top notch stuff!
Now let me just mention a little bit about the online portion of the guide, the VIP room. The VIP room is filled with 20 or 30 strategies, broken down into different sections. Some of these strategies are video commentated replays. These are privately hosted videos, which I like, so you won’t find these on Youtube.
The strategies that aren’t commentated replays are short articles. My favorite thing about this guide is definitely that the author is hiring Diamond level players to write up strategies! This guide is going to grow out of control!
If I had to complain about the guide, I would say that the website is a little tricky to navigate around. I kept finding myself on a page I didn’t want to be on.

Shokz Starcraft 2 guide has everything a fledgling player needs. Precise build orders for each race, and all sorts of strategies. Videos of those same strategies in action.
It even has a fantastic introduction, about seven chapters I think, that just covers all the basics beginners might need.
Their is so much information here, don’t just read it once. Plus he updates all the time, so be sure to check back frequently.
If you ever thought you might need a Starcraft 2 strategy guide, Shokz is the one I’d recommend. Right behind Shokz I’d recommend Joana’s, her strategy guide is of very high quality as well. Both of these look promising for the future too, lots of updates promised.

Joana has created a really great strategy guide. I ran to tell my buddies right away how it would change my gameplay forever.
What I loved the most about the guide is the first page you’ll read once you login. The page talks about the differences of WC3 and Starcraft 2, and they opened up my eyes.
Now when I play I seriously kick butt. I have only lost 1 solo game of my last 9, and I’ve faced some good players.
This guide taught me stuff about economy that is really fantastic, lets just say now my opponents are more worried about me then I am worried about them.
What else can I say? This guide was a truly kick ass purchase for me, oh let me talk to you about the race specific portions of this guide.
This guide really is broken down into four sections. The main section has the best information for any race! Then Joana’s guide breaks itself into three sections, one for each race.
I spent most of my time in the Zerg section I’m not gonna lie, but don’t blame me I’m a Zerg player

Ok past the cutesy stuff, the Zerg specific section was really sweet. It gave me this build, that was so different then the one I had been doing, and it works so much better! I feel so confident with my build now.
Then it talks about the different unit combinations that work really well together, I’m talkin overwhelm your opponent here witch unit combinations that’ll have him beat.
The guide even goes so specific as to exactly what the opponent might do to try and counter you, and then how to counter that! I mean talk about research!
Now, I have to mention that I was reading through her guide and I saw some highlighted text. Bear with me… I clicked on the text and a video opened up.
This video had an example of the strategy, with voice commentary over it, super fast load, and the video walked me through a replay with that strategy in it.
Now remember this is all Zerg specific, there are three big sections that contain this that I’m telling you and a whole lot more. Plus I know Joana and she updates her strategy guides a lot!
I’m not even mentioning all the other strategies she talks about for each race. I’m not even mentioning how she tells you what to do early game, middle game, and late game for every single type of matchup…..
This guide is a steal, I told my friends to get it, and I highly suggest you do to. Worst comes to worst you can request a refund, and I can guarantee you the refund system this strategy guide uses works ever time.
